The United States government is taking legal action against a business for unpaid debts, marking a significant federal enforcement effort. On November 19, 2025, the United States of America filed a complaint in the Northern District of Illinois against Power Home Exteriors, Inc., seeking to recover substantial amounts owed due to multiple violations and penalties.
The case unfolds with the U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) identifying several serious violations by Power Home Exteriors. These infractions were documented as early as April 22, 2021, leading to a series of citations and debt collection notices. Despite repeated demands for payment starting from August 6, 2021, Power Home Exteriors failed to settle its obligations. The total debt includes principal amounts alongside accruing interest, penalties, and administrative fees amounting to $91,248.86 as of July 17, 2025.
OSHA’s initial actions included sending letters and invoices detailing the violations and associated fines. For instance, on January 8, 2021, OSHA issued citations for violations dating back to October 27, 2020. This was followed by demands for payment which escalated over time due to additional interest and penalties imposed under federal regulations such as the Debt Collection Improvement Act of 1996.
The financial liabilities were eventually referred to the U.S. Department of Treasury in early 2022 and subsequently transferred to the Department of Justice (DOJ) in September 2023 for further action. This referral underscores the seriousness with which federal agencies pursue compliance with safety regulations and financial accountability.
The plaintiff seeks judgment from the court not only for the recovery of specific monetary amounts but also any other relief deemed appropriate by the court. The complaint highlights that despite multiple notifications and opportunities provided to Power Home Exteriors to rectify their dues, there has been neglect or refusal to pay.
Representing the United States is Nathan Lollis from Schuerger Law Group based in La Grange, Illinois. The case is being overseen by private counsel associated with the U.S. Department of Justice under Case No. 25 CV 14138.
