A lawsuit has been filed against a major transportation company, accusing it of discriminatory practices against an applicant with a disability. On January 23, 2026, Ivan Lozada lodged a complaint in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois against Central Transport, LLC. The suit alleges that the company violated the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) by failing to accommodate Lozada’s disability and subsequently withdrawing his job offer.

The case revolves around Ivan Lozada, who applied for a Facilities Maintenance Technician position at Central Transport in October 2025. Despite successfully passing all required tests and evaluations, including welding and physical examinations, Lozada’s application was rejected after he disclosed his Type 1 Diabetes condition. According to the complaint, Lozada’s diabetes is well-managed under medical supervision and does not impede his ability to perform job-related tasks. However, when asked to obtain a Department of Transportation (DOT) medical certification—a requirement that puzzled him given the non-driving nature of the role—Lozada was temporarily disqualified due to his condition. He was informed that this could be resolved with medical documentation from his doctor.

Despite assurances from Central Transport’s recruiter Christina Daniels that this issue could be easily addressed with confirmation from his physician, Lozada received an email stating that he was not approved by the company’s safety department before any medical paperwork had been submitted. This decision led to the withdrawal of his job offer based solely on his diabetes diagnosis. The lawsuit claims this action constitutes discrimination under the ADA as it denied Lozada employment based on a disability without providing reasonable accommodation or engaging in an interactive process to determine necessary adjustments.

Lozada is seeking various forms of relief from the court including back pay with interest, compensatory and punitive damages, and coverage for legal fees. He also demands a jury trial to resolve these issues. The plaintiff argues that Central Transport acted in willful disregard of his rights under federal law by discriminating against him based on his disability and retaliating against him for requesting accommodations.

Representing Ivan Lozada is attorney Yousef J. Ahmad from Sulaiman Law Group Ltd., while no attorneys have been listed for Central Transport at this stage. The case has been assigned Case ID 1:26-cv-00805 in front of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
