A Rockford resident has been sentenced to 14 years in federal prison for distributing methamphetamine. Jesse Herbig, 44, pleaded guilty earlier this year to possessing with intent to distribute more than fifty grams of methamphetamine.
According to court records, Herbig admitted that in 2022 he coordinated with his supplier and arranged for a U.S. Postal Service Priority Express package containing methamphetamine to be sent from Phoenix, Arizona, to an address in Rockford. The parcel held about 891.6 grams of methamphetamine that was approximately 99% pure.
U.S. District Judge Iain D. Johnston handed down the 168-month sentence during a hearing at the federal courthouse in Rockford.
The announcement was made by Andrew S. Boutros, United States Attorney for the Northern District of Illinois, and Ruth Mendonça, Inspector-in-Charge of the Chicago Division of the U.S. Postal Inspection Service. The Rockford Police Department contributed to the investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Lisa R. Munch represented the government.
