In a landmark legal move, a visually impaired individual has filed a class action lawsuit against an online retailer for allegedly failing to make its website accessible to those with visual impairments. Tanisia Bowman, who is legally blind, initiated the complaint on February 19, 2026, in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois against Fab Glass And Mirror, LLC. The lawsuit claims that the company’s website does not comply with accessibility standards, thereby violating the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

Bowman contends that Fab Glass And Mirror’s website is riddled with barriers that prevent visually impaired individuals from accessing its goods and services on equal footing with sighted users. She alleges that these barriers include inadequate alternative text for images, lack of keyboard navigability, and failure to provide prompts necessary for screen readers to function effectively. As a result, Bowman argues that she and others similarly situated are denied full participation in the digital marketplace—a critical aspect of modern commerce.

The complaint highlights Bowman’s personal experience attempting to purchase a wall mirror from Fab Glass And Mirror’s website. Despite her efforts using screen-reading software, she was unable to complete her transaction due to various accessibility issues such as repetitive navigation content and interactive elements requiring mouse use—an impossible task for someone relying solely on keyboard input. Bowman asserts that these deficiencies constitute discrimination under both state and federal law.

Bowman seeks a permanent injunction compelling Fab Glass And Mirror to modify its website policies and practices to ensure compliance with ADA standards. She also demands compensatory damages for herself and other class members who have faced similar discrimination. The lawsuit emphasizes the importance of web accessibility guidelines like WCAG 2.2, which outline essential components for making websites usable by individuals with disabilities.

Representing Bowman is Alison Chan of Equal Access Law Group, PLLC. The case is presided over by judges in the Northern District of Illinois under Case No.: 1:26-cv-1890.
