Impact Networking, LLC has filed a lawsuit against The Baldwin Group Southeast, LLC, accusing the insurance broker of fraud and misrepresentation in a medical benefits plan deal. The complaint was lodged on November 26, 2025, in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. Impact claims that Baldwin Southeast Insurance Services misled them about the costs and coverage limits of a medical benefits program, resulting in over $1 million in unexpected expenses.

The legal dispute arises from allegations that Baldwin Southeast Insurance Services falsely represented the terms of a medical benefits program to Impact Networking. According to the complaint, Baldwin approached Impact in August 2023 with promises of significant savings if they switched from their long-term insurer to a self-funded plan with pharmacy carve-outs recommended by Baldwin. The defendant assured Impact that their maximum annual costs would be capped at approximately $7.1 million, less than their current spend with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois (BCBS). However, after transitioning to the new plan effective January 1, 2024, Impact discovered that their costs exceeded $10 million due to an undisclosed cap on aggregate stop-loss coverage.

Impact Networking accuses Baldwin Southeast Insurance Services of fraudulently inducing them into purchasing a policy under false pretenses. They allege that despite repeated assurances from Baldwin that their expenses would be capped and covered under unlimited stop-loss provisions, the actual policy contained a $1 million limit on aggregate stop-loss insurance. This discrepancy left Impact liable for substantial additional medical claims beyond what was initially represented.

In its lawsuit, Impact seeks monetary compensation exceeding $1 million for damages incurred due to Baldwin’s alleged misconduct. They are also pursuing punitive damages for what they describe as willful and wanton conduct by the defendant. Additionally, Impact is requesting reimbursement for legal fees and other related costs.

Representing Impact Networking in this case are attorneys Paul W. Carroll and Alison L. Constantine from Gould & Ratner LLP based in Chicago. The case is being presided over by an unnamed judge under Case ID: 1:25-cv-14503.
