A Sacramento man has been sentenced to 14 years in federal prison for his role in coordinating the shipment of methamphetamine from California to Chicago. According to federal prosecutors, Keith R. McCormick sent more than 200 parcels, each containing a pound of nearly pure methamphetamine, from his home in Sacramento to individuals in Chicago during 2022 and 2023. Many packages were addressed to co-conspirators who distributed the drugs locally and then returned the proceeds to McCormick.

McCormick, age 54, was arrested in March 2023 and pleaded guilty last year to a drug conspiracy charge. On February 10, 2026, U.S. District Judge Edmond E. Chang sentenced him to prison and imposed a $25,000 fine.

Authorities charged six people as part of this investigation. Four co-conspirators living in Chicago had previously pleaded guilty and received sentences: Stephen R. Jenkins was sentenced to 14 years; Daniel Heise received a 12-year sentence; Donald W. Grenier, Jr., was sentenced to four years; and Jose Hernandez also received four years in prison. Charges against William F. Koch were dismissed after his death in 2024.

Announcing the sentence were Andrew S. Boutros, United States Attorney for the Northern District of Illinois; Mary T. Johnson, Acting Inspector-in-Charge of the Chicago Division of the U.S. Postal Inspection Service (USPIS); Todd C. Smith, Special Agent-in-Charge of the DEA’s Chicago Field Division; Douglas S. DePodesta, Special Agent-in-Charge at the FBI’s Chicago Field Office; and Larry Snelling, Superintendent of the Chicago Police Department.

They noted that assistance came from several agencies including the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of California; Homeland Security Task Forces in both cities; USPIS High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Task Force—Parcel Interdiction Regional Enforcement Team in Chicago; USPIS and Homeland Security Investigations Field Offices in Sacramento; and North Riverside Police Department.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Elly Moheb represented the government.
