A Freeport, Illinois man has been sentenced to a decade in federal prison for cocaine distribution. Paris Walker, aged 39, admitted guilt earlier this year to one count of distributing a controlled substance. The sentence was handed down by U.S. District Judge Iain D. Johnston during a hearing on Thursday in Rockford’s federal court.

Walker confessed that from 2019 to 2022, he knowingly distributed cocaine to a government confidential informant. He also possessed cocaine with the intent to distribute it on several occasions. The total amount of cocaine involved was at least 30.3 grams.

The sentencing announcement came from Andrew S. Boutros, United States Attorney for the Northern District of Illinois, and Douglas S. DePodesta, Special Agent-in-Charge of the Chicago Field Office of the FBI. Assistant U.S. Attorney Robert S. Ladd represented the government in this case.
