Clerk’s Offices in Southern District of Illinois to close November 7 due to government shutdown

The Clerk’s Offices at both courthouses of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Illinois will be closed on Friday, November 7, 2025, because of a government shutdown. During this closure, the public can still access and use the Next Generation Case Management/Electronic Case Filing system (NextGen CM/ECF). Individuals may also use drop boxes located in courthouse lobby areas to submit documents.

In case of emergency during the closure, individuals are instructed to call 618-482-9106 and leave a message. Normal operating hours for both offices are expected to resume at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, November 10, 2025.

The court has directed those seeking more information to refer to Administrative Order 422.
