Attorney General Kwame Raoul has issued a statement recognizing Justice Mary Jane Theis for her service on the Illinois Supreme Court. Justice Theis recently announced her plan to retire at the end of January.
Raoul stated, “Justice Mary Jane Theis’ unwavering leadership has been the hallmark of her term as a Supreme Court justice. Justice Theis has increased trust in the judiciary in Illinois by enhancing transparency and making oral arguments more accessible to the people of our state. During frequent arguments before the Supreme Court, attorneys from my office have experienced the professionalism with which the court conducts itself under her leadership. I am grateful for Justice Theis’ service to the people of Illinois.”
The Attorney General’s office serves as Illinois’ primary legal authority, handling responsibilities such as upholding laws, protecting consumer rights, and supporting vulnerable groups across multiple statewide locations.
